Powell County

The Area V Agency on Aging contracts with the Powell County Council on Aging, (PCCOA), to provide:

Health Services:  The PCCOA employs an RN to make weekly visits to home-bound seniors for health screenings, assessments and education; and also provides blood pressure checks on Wednesdays at the Powell County Senior Center.

Homemaker Services:  The PCCOA offers up to four hours a month of light house cleaning to home-bound seniors upon request.

Transportation:  Powell County Public Transportation runs an on demand bus Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Thursdays 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.  Free rides are available to and from the senior center for lunch.

Information and Assistance:  The Powell County Council on Aging has I&A technicians who help local seniors connect with needed servcies.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program, (SHIP):  The Powell County Council on aging has SHIP counselors who assists beneficiaries in the area with Medicare related issues.

Congregate and Home Delivered Meals:  The Powell County Council on Aging contracts with the Powell County Senior Center to provide congregate meals and deliver meals to home-bound seniors in Deer Lodge five days a week.  The congregate meal is served at 12:00 p.m. each day and meals are delivered between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. each day.  An evening meal is provided every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and frozen meals are available at a reduced price.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program:  The PCCOA provides monthly food baskets for eligible seniors in Deer Lodge.

Senior Companion Program: The PCCOA is a volunteer supervising agency for the Senior Companion Program.

Tax Assistance: The PCCOA participates in the AARP Tax-Aide program and Dodie Rennfield is a coordinator during tax season.

Medical Equipment Loan Closet:  The PCCOA has medical equipment available for loan.

Activities:  The Powell County Senior Center provides blood pressure checks every Wednesday during lunch and hearing tests the last Wednesday of each month, as well as providing various activities such as cards and bingo.
